The purpose of World Water Day is to arouse public awareness of water saving and strengthen water resources protection. In order to meet people's daily life, business and agriculture needs for water resources, the United Nations has long been committed to solving the global water crisis caused by rising water demand. The "United Nations Water Conference" held in 1977 issued a serious warning to the world: Water will soon become a profound social crisis, and the next crisis after the oil crisis is water. On January 18th in 1993, the forty-seventh session of the United Nations General Assembly made a resolution to determine March 22nd every year as "World Water Day."
March 22 to 28 is the thirty-third China Water Week. The theme of this year's activities to commemorate World Water Day and China Water Week is "Adhere to the priority of saving water and build a happy river and lake."This reminds us to save water, build a happy river for the benefit of the people, and take the green development path of harmony between people and water. Water is the source of life, the essence of production, and the foundation of ecology. The freshwater resources on earth are extremely limited and unevenly distributed. Although the total amount of freshwater resources in China is relatively large, the per capita occupancy is small, and the spatial and temporal distribution of water resources is uneven. With the continuous development of the economy and society, new problems such as water resource shortage, water ecological damage and water environment pollution are outstanding, and the water security situation is grim. In promoting the construction of ecological civilization today, saving water and paying attention to water resources, water and ecological water environment are of great significance.
