SPAD502 Plus Chlorophyll Meter

Summary

SPAD502 Plus is a portable, hand-held measuring instrument that can measure the chlorophyll content in leaves without damaging crops. The chlorophyll content is related to the growth conditions of the crop. Generally speaking, the healthier the crop, the higher the chlorophyll content. Therefore, by measuring the chlorophyll content in the leaves of the crops to help users
understand the nutritional status of the crops, it can be determined whether the corresponding fertilizers need to be added.

  Main features:

  Quick and easy measurement
During the measurement, it is only necessary to clamp the leaves and close the measuring probe, without cutting the leaves, so that the designated leaves can be monitored throughout
the growth process of the crop, thereby obtaining more scientific analysis results.

   Water-proof
SPAD502 Plus has good water resistance (IPX-4), even in rainy days, it can be measured outdoors. Do not immerse the instrument in water or wash the instrument directly with water.

   Lightweight and easy to carry
SPAD502 Plus has a compact body with a weight of only 200g, which can be conveniently put into a pocket and brought to the scene for measurement.

   Low power consumption
SPAD502 Plus has LED lighting source, so it can greatly reduce battery consumption. One set of 2 AA batteries can provide about 20000 times.

   Working principle

SPAD502 Plus evaluates the relative content of chlorophyll in the current leaves by measuring the absorption rate of the leaves in the two wavelength bands. The figure below shows the absorption of chlorophyll in the two leaf samples to the spectrum. It can be seen from the figure that the absorption of chlorophyll reaches the peak in the blue region (400-500nm) and red region (600-700nm), but it does not absorb in the near infrared region. Using this absorption characteristic of chlorophyll, SPAD502 Plus measures the absorption rate of leaves in the red and near infrared regions. Through the absorption rate of these two areas, a SPAD value is calculated, which uses numbers to represent the current parameters corresponding to the chlorophyll content in the leaves.
