TLS-100 Portable Thermal Properties Analyzer

Summary

 TLS-100 is a high-precision portable thermal properties analyzer, which complies with international standard test methods ASTM D5334-14 and IEEE442-1981.

  The probe sensor is composed of a thin heating wire and a temperature sensor. The temperature sensor is sealed in a stainless steel tube with a length of 100 mm (50 mm probe is optional). During the measurement, the sensor is completely inserted into the sample to be measured, a constant current source (Q) is used to transfer heat to the sample, and the temperature rise is recorded within a certain period of time. Using the slope of the logarithm of temperature and time (A), the thermal conductivity (K) can be calculated. The higher the thermal conductivity, the lower the slope. For materials with lower thermal conductivity, the slope is higher.


 


  The 100 mm length probe sensor in standard configuration is used to measure soil, soft materials, polymers and other easily inserted substances. The probe sensor is fully inserted into the isothermal sample, and then the button is pressed to measure. After 180 seconds, the measurement results will be displayed directly. Data can be saved into the microSD card, or exported by connecting the analyzer to your computer.

  The soil heat-drying curve can be obtained by measuring the thermal conductivity of the soil at different water contents from the water saturation state to the drying process. The typical drying method is to heat the soil at high temperature, weigh it at different time intervals, and measure the thermal conductivity until the soil is completely dry.


  Optional 50 mm probe sensor:
  A probe sensor with a length of 50 mm is available when you need to measure hard materials such as rock and concrete. Before measuring, you need to drill a circular hole with a diameter of 4 mm and a length of 50 mm in the sample, and use lubricant to ensure full contact with the sample.
